PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

Even before the events of October 7th, the conversation around Israel was complicated, nuanced, and often difficult to engage in if you didn’t feel like you knew “enough.” That sentiment has only continued in today’s fractured climate, and there are few places to learn about Israel for its own sake.

FJC invites you to join us, in partnership with the Spertus Institute, for Elevate Israel. This program is intended for full-time camp professionals (at both day and overnight camps) who oversee the Israel education portfolio at their camps. Elevate Israel is designed to increase participants' knowledge and confidence of Israel and Israeli history. Participating camp professionals will attend two Zoom sessions in April to set the stage for a 3-day intensive in-person seminar in Chicago at the Spertus Institute, led by Spertus faculty. The seminar will be followed up with two Zoom sessions, one before the summer and one after.

    PROGRAM DATES:

    • Two pre-seminar Zoom sessions: Wednesday, April 9th and Wednesday, April 23rd, 2025 (both are 3-4 PM EST/12-1 PM PST)
    • In-person seminar at the Spertus Institute in Chicago: Monday, April 28th – Wednesday, April 30th, 2025
    • Two post-seminar Zoom sessions: Wednesday, May 28th and Wednesday, August 27th, 2025 (both are 3-4 PM EST/12-1 PM PST)

    IN-PERSON SEMINAR IN CHICAGO:

The cost of travel to/from Chicago for the in-person seminar is the responsibility of the participant’s camp/organization. FJC/Spertus will cover the cost of hotels and most meals while in Chicago.

    APPLICATION TIMELINE:

After you submit the application, a member of the FJC Team will reach out to you to schedule an interview. Interviews will occur on a rolling basis. You will be notified of a final decision by early March.

Application Deadline: Monday, February 24, 2025

Please email David Korenthal (david.korenthal@jewishcamp.org) with any questions.
