About the Yitro Leadership Program:

Thanks to the generous support of the Marcus Foundation, Cohort VI of the Yitro Leadership Program will provide training for up to twenty-five middle managers from a diverse cross section of FJC's network of Jewish camps, giving them the skills and resources to grow and excel in their roles.

Yitro Fellows will deepen the impact of the Jewish camp experience and sustain careers in the Jewish communal field by developing a network of peers across the Jewish camping field and honing the skills and confidences to do their jobs well. Fellows will adopts and tailor authentically Jewish approaches to their work, and increase and expand their Jewish knowledge, relevant Israel experience, and processional development.

Eligible candidates:

At FJC, we value diversity and equal opportunity. We are committed to building a cohort that reflects a wide range of backgrounds, experiences, perspectives, and skills. We firmly believe that inclusivity strengthens our work and enhances the impact of our field.

We are seeking applicants who meet the following criteria:

  • Role: Full-time, year-round professionals in middle manager roles reporting to a Camp Director or a Supervisor who is onsite during the summer. Applicants titles may include Assistant/Associate/Program Director, or similar, at non-profit Jewish camps within the FJC network. Must work for camp at least 80% Full-Time Equivalent (FTE), even if engaged in other programs such as after-school initiatives.
  • Experience: Have been in their position for at least one year by February 10th. Preference may be given to applicants with 2-3+ years of experience.
  • Impact and Influence: Can influence change in their area of responsibility, which may include staff hiring and/or culture, camper/community recruitment and care, programming, communications/marketing, and/or operations.
  • Commitment to the Field: Demonstrated dedication to a career in Jewish camping and/or the broader Jewish communal field.
  • Program Support: Have the full support of their Supervisor and Board Chair (or Executive Director) to participate completely in the Yitro Leadership Program.

Strong candidates will demonstrate outstanding leadership potential, adaptability, commitment to leadership informed by Jewish values, capacity for growth, and an interest in broadening their understanding of, and exposure to, the field of Jewish camp.

We are unlikely to accept more than one Fellow per camp. However, we may consider accepting more than one Fellow from the same organization if they represent different camps (for example, an overnight camp professional and a day camp professional from the same umbrella organization). Multiple staff members from the same camp or same organization, each meeting the above eligibility criteria, are encouraged to apply.
