Yitro Leadership Program - Cohort VI Application

Before completing this application, please be sure to thoroughly review all program information at jewishcamp.org/yitro with your supervisor to confirm that you are available for all program dates and that you have the support of your camp to apply. If cost is the barrier to participation, or if you have any other questions, please reach out to Molly at molly.baer@jewishcamp.org.

Completed applications are due by Monday, February 10, 2025 (11:59 PM PT). Applications without a signed participation agreement and a supervisor reference form will be considered incomplete. You will be notified about the status of your application by Thursday, February 27, 2025.

About Yitro Leadership Program: The Yitro Leadership Program invests in a diverse network of high potential full-time, year-round professionals in middle manager roles at non-profit Jewish camps in the FJC network, cultivating a dynamic cohort experience while providing critical professional and leadership development. Yitro Fellows build the skills, confidence, and connections necessary to thrive in their roles and beyond.

Eligible candidates:

At FJC, we value diversity and equal opportunity. We are committed to building a cohort that reflects a wide range of backgrounds, experiences, perspectives, and skills. We firmly believe that inclusivity strengthens our work and enhances the impact of our field.

We are seeking applicants who meet the following criteria:

  • Role: Full-time, year-round professionals in middle manager roles reporting to a Camp Director or a Supervisor who is onsite during the summer. Applicants titles may include Assistant/Associate/Program Director, or similar, at non-profit Jewish camps within the FJC network. Must work for camp at least 80% Full-Time Equivalent (FTE), even if engaged in other programs such as after-school initiatives.
  • Experience: Have been in their position for at least one year by February 10th. Preference may be given to applicants with 2-3+ years of experience.
  • Impact and Influence: Can influence change in their area of responsibility, which may include staff hiring and/or culture, camper/community recruitment and care, programming, communications/marketing, and/or operations.
  • Commitment to the Field: Demonstrated dedication to a career in Jewish camping and/or the broader Jewish communal field.
  • Program Support: Have the full support of their Supervisor and Board Chair (or Executive Director) to participate completely in the Yitro Leadership Program.

Strong candidates will demonstrate outstanding leadership potential, adaptability, commitment to leadership informed by Jewish values, capacity for growth, and an interest in broadening their understanding of, and exposure to, the field of Jewish camp.

We are unlikely to accept more than one Fellow per camp. However, we may consider accepting more than one Fellow from the same organization if they represent different camps (for example, an overnight camp professional and a day camp professional from the same umbrella organization). Multiple staff members from the same camp or same organization, each meeting the above eligibility criteria, are encouraged to apply.

You can pause the application form at any time and save your work up to that point.

A “Save-and-Resume” checkbox (at the top or bottom of this form) will allow you to save progress, and return to the form at another time. (Though all responses will be saved, you will be returned to the beginning of this form.)

Public Bio

Please be aware that information in this section may be shared on our website or in communications for public viewing. Please keep in mind the following guidelines:

The ideal bio...

• is written in the third person and is professional in tone - it can include fun facts (ex: In her free time, Molly likes to travel and eat copious amounts of s'mores!)

• is edited for grammatical and spelling mistakes - using oxford commas where relevant

• shares accomplishments you would share in a public, professional setting

• refers to FJC as Foundation for Jewish Camp or FJC, never THE Foundation for Jewish Camp

Bio example:

Daniel Shore, Ph.D., is a researcher and consultant across the gamut of human interaction, from government cybersecurity teams to summer camp staff. He combines his expertise in analytics, teamwork, and strategic engagement to transform data into action. In the camp world, Daniel combines his ten summers of experience spanning staff member, unit supervisor, and director of staff and leadership development with his research expertise to help camps assess and execute on improving the employee experience for staff at a strategic, operational, and tactical level. Daniel is an ardent believer that to have a great camp with happy campers, you need happy counselors, too.
