Working at an American Jewish summer camp is so much more than a job – it’s an experience like no other.  With the Machane Olami: Global Jewish Camp Staffing Initiative, you’ll spend your summer creating lifelong friendships, learning about North American Jewish life, and sharing your own story and culture with campers and staff from around the world!

AM I RIGHT FOR THE JOB?

We’re looking for Jewish young adults who are…

  • Ages 18 or older
  • Available to work June through August, as camps summer is anywhere 6-9 weeks
  • Fluent in English (writing proficiency is preferred but not required)
  • Have valid documents (passport) that allow international travel
  • Excited to share their experience and skills with others
  • Willing to learn and grow during camp
  • Eager to provide a safe and fun environment for campers

You don’t need to be an expert in childcare, a rabbi, an educator, or even have been to camp before! Great camp counselors have diverse skill sets and are enthusiastic, hard workers.

Support DETAILS:
  • Will receive $1000+ USD salary at the end of camp
  • Must be able to pay for J1 Visa ($185) and attend in-person interview in the US embassy.
  • Travel and staffing agency costs are covered by the program
APPLICATION PROCESS:
  • Step 1 – Let us know you are interested by filling out this form
  • Step 2 – Have the initial conversation with the program coordinator
  • Step 2 – Complete a camp staffing agency application and go through a job interview with a camp professional
  • Step 3 – Work with the staffing agency to obtain your visa and coordinate your travel
  • Step 4 – Participate in a pre-camp virtual training
  • Step 5 – Participate in virtual check-in sessions during camp 
  • Step 6 – Have an incredible, transformative, life-changing time at camp!
